The 7/10 Business Trap

When “fine” quietly becomes the problem

You’re probably not struggling.

The business works.

On paper, things are… fine.

And yet—

something about it doesn’t feel quite right.

Not bad enough to fix.

Not good enough to ignore.

Just… somewhere around 7 out of 10.

Which sounds fine.

Until you sit with it for a moment.

And realise—

this might be the problem.

And most people never question it.

It tends to look more like this:

  • low-level pressure that never quite switches off

  • things following you around… even when nothing’s wrong

  • solving one problem… only for another to appear

  • feeling responsible for everything… even when you shouldn’t be

Nothing dramatic.

Just… heavier than it should feel.

You can't quite point to anything.

And that's the confusing part

Nothing’s obviously broken.

Most people assume the answer is:

  • better systems

  • better structure

  • better delegation

So that's where the focus goes.

And sometimes those things help.

But not in the way you hoped.

The problems change.

The feeling doesn’t.

You’re not imagining it.

Most just don’t say it out loud.

At some point, the question becomes:

What if I’ve been solving the wrong problem?

This won't give you more to do.

It’s not a strategy session.

Not a productivity workshop.

It’s a chance to step back…

and look at something most business advice quietly skips past:

how all of this actually feels

for the person living it.

Because the business doesn’t sit separately from you.

It runs through you.

Which means you can’t fix one without looking at the other.

You won’t leave with a list of actions.

But you might leave with:

  • a clearer sense of why this feels the way it does

  • a different way of seeing your role in it

  • the possibility that this isn’t as fixed as it’s been feeling

And for some people…

that’s where things start to shift.

This is probably for you if…

the business is working…

but doesn’t feel how you thought it would.

You’ve tried improving things.

Tweaking. Fixing. Optimising.

And for a while, it helps.

But the feeling keeps finding its way back.

And every now and then, the thought shows up:

surely it doesn’t have to feel like this”

This probably isn’t for you if…

you’re looking for better tactics or scaling strategies.

You want step-by-step plans or quick wins.

Or…

you’ve noticed all of this already—

and decided to carry on anyway.
